OperaBabes are an English crossover classical music duo, consisting of Karen England (born 1974), mezzo-soprano, and Rebecca Knight (born 1970), soprano.
The duo came to wide attention when they sang "Un bel dì vedremo" (from the opera Madame Butterfly) on television sports programs, beginning in 2002. In addition to performing with major orchestras in Britain and touring with their own shows, they released their first album, Beyond Imagination in 2002 and their second album, Renaissance, in 2006. In 2012, the group released its third album, Silent Noon, named after the song by Ralph Vaughan Williams, on the Warner Classics label. The album consists of British songs, from Handel and Purcell, to Quilter, to Britten and Novello, accompanied by piano.
Beyond Imagination ranked No.1 on the UK Classical Chart for eleven weeks, and No. 4 on the US Billboard Classical Crossover Albums chart. In addition to the "One Fine Day" track being selected as the World Cup 2002 theme by ITV, British Airways chose another of the tracks, "Lakme H2O", a "stylish re-imagining of the Flower Duet from Lakmé", for a commercial. One reviewer wrote: "If you're a young individual with a remote interest in the classical genre, this disc is the perfect introduction". The album has sold over 1.7 million copies.

Lisa Gerrard and Jules Maxwell are best known for their work as members of legendary band Dead Can Dance. Gerrard is also celebrated for her contribution to the soundtracks of huge Hollywood blockbusters like 'Gladiator' and independent gems like 'Whale Rider'.
Jules Maxwell is an Irish composer, whose work has featured in London at the Royal Opera House, the National Theatre and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.
'Burn' began its journey more than seven years ago, when Gerrard first met and began working with Maxwell. Things really took root when Gerrard and Maxwell began writing songs for the 'BooCheeMish' album by The Mystery Of The Bulgarian Voices (Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares). They were later introduced to Chapman and asked him to produce this album, which represents a stunning departure for all three of them.
"‘Burn’ was never planned to be an album. Like many joyous things in life, it grew slowly and unexpectedly. One song at a time. Lisa Gerrard is in my opinion one of the most important singers of her generation and it continues to be an enormous privilege for me to be working with her. What we have created still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up from time to time," says Jules Maxwell.
For connoisseurs of experimental, avante-garde and progressive music, this release is certainly worthy of investigation.

This album begins to complete the circle.

Tracks 1-5 recorded and mixed by Rob Clutton in North York and Burlington, April-August, 2020. Track 6 recorded by Joe Strutt at Track Could Bend on March 6, 2019.
Andrei Poliakov is a professional musician, composer and producer, who received a fundamental classical music education as a pianist and an oboist in Russia, continued with the professional musical career performing with world renowned orchestras, later diversifying his musical taste and capacity into jazz, rock, and pop genres, performing and recording with various bands and solo.
The foundation of Andrei’s works is a well educated classical, romantic soundscape, but as soon as the music begins, it starts looking for cross over opportunities to develop into an exciting house party, jazz, pop, or electronic music, all these easily transforming to warm classical follow ups hence the eclectic style which helps Andrei tell better stories without words.
Andrei treats a musical genre as an additional color for the compositions, like seasoning in food; these colors help him get across the emotions and tell the stories to the listener with better precision and stronger impact: “I do not feel bound by a genre or a style, and instead I use and abuse the variety of styles to paint a deeper and more colorful, meaningful musical picture. Nevertheless, the Piano is always staying as a centerpiece of my compositions as I believe the richness and diversity of sounds of the “king of music” easily trumps any other instrument I know”.
The “Moonlight & Sunshine” album has an uncommon approach for the neo-classics genre: every next release features 2 different versions of one motive, coming to life as a piano solo piece, interpreting a narrative in the moonlight, and as a fully arranged piece, revealing the same story under the sunshine.
Cape Verde presents the music of the islands just 300 miles off West Africa's Senegalese coast. Drawing from Portuguese and African influences, the music of Cape Verde is most often rooted in a sensually languid and rhythmically complex cousin of the blues called morna. Largely popularized on the international scene by the meteoric popularity of Cesaria Evora (who contributes here with "Cabo Verde Manda Mantenha"), Cape Verdean music has enjoyed a wider listenership. This collection, however, cleverly balances the alluring minor key of morna with the lesser-known merry festivity of coladeira, the Cape's party music, and a jazz-tinged dance music called funana.
Mysteriously bewitching, Cape Verde is a gorgeous melange of elegant piano, acoustic strings, rousing horn sections, propulsive drumming, flamboyant keyboards, and superb vocalists.
The Penguin Cafe Orchestra (PCO) was an avant-pop band led by English guitarist Simon Jeffes. Co-founded with cellist Helen Liebmann, it toured extensively during the 1980s and 1990s. The band's sound is not easily categorized, having elements of exuberant folk music and a minimalist aesthetic occasionally reminiscent of composers such as Philip Glass.
The group recorded and performed for 24 years until Jeffes died of an inoperable brain tumour in 1997. Several members of the original group reunited for three concerts in 2007. Since then, five original members have continued to play concerts of PCO's music, initially as The Anteaters, then as The Orchestra That Fell to Earth. In 2009, Jeffes' son Arthur founded a successor band simply called Penguin Cafe.
Broadcasting From Home was released in 1984 and includes their most popular song "Music From A Found Harmonium".
