Babamadu – Bitama (1996) jazz/world fusion

 


Babamadu were an ethno funk and jazz trio led by percussionist and composer Biboul Darouiche. Originally from Cameroon, Biboul moved to Paris in the early 90's where he played and worked on CD productions with various artists including Roy Ayers, Klaus Doldingers Passport, Al di Meola, Paquito de Riviera, Graham Haynes, Kurtis Blow, Jazz Baltica Essemble, Pee Wee Ellis and Harald Haerter just to mention a few. Today Biboul lives in Germany.

Their one album together, Bitama, was released in 1996 on the Enja label. "Bitama"is the name of Biboul's mother and it means "let's see now".
