Rivertribe – Journey.... ancient sounds of the Australian bushland

 



Strongly Spiritual combinations of the ancient sounds of the Australian bushland underlined by the depth of the didgeridoo. These ancient sounds are put together with international woodwinds and percussion overlaid with a delicate fillegrie of modern keyboard.

RiverTribe were based in the hills behind Melbourne, Australia, while two of the group spent some time in the national capital of Canberra.

Journey, their first album, was released in 1999.

Medwyn Goodall – Millennium

 


Medwyn Goodall (born in 1961) is a composer, musician and owner of record label MG Music. He is mostly associated with the New Age genre. He was born in Yorkshire, England. According to AllMusic, "Goodall began composing original songs as a teen, earning local notoriety with his band Trax; in the years to follow, he learned to play a vast range of instruments, including mandolin, piano, drums, harp, flute, glockenspiel, panpipes, vibraphone and synthesizer, and cut his first album at age 26". He is a prolific recorder, having recorded over 75 albums. He also topped the UK music charts twice and sold over three million albums. His first album was Emergence (1987), published by New World Music. His early albums were published also by Oreade Music. Medwyn Goodall started MG Music in 2003. This is a record label which specializes in New Age music.

He produced albums on which he arranged, performed, mixed and mastered every song, although his album, OM (2007), was produced together with Terry Oldfield and OM 2 (2009), was produced together with Aroshanti.

Helen Mountfort is a cellist and composer who works in both the contemporary Classical and the popular music fields. She is a founding member of 'My Friend The Chocolate Cake' and has composed music for theatre, dance and film.

Upside Down At The Bottom Of The World - "The first seven tracks of this CD were commissioned by ABC Radio National to celebrate the Centenary of Federation. The last five tracks were written for a show called "The Enormous Club" by Melbourne theatre company, Born In A Taxi. The CD divides roughly into two halves. Tracks 1-6 include some more boisterous tunes, good for doing the housework to. If you want some late night chill out music, you might want to start at track 7 and play to the end."

The Rough Guide to the Music of the Andes is a world music compilation album originally released in 1996. Part of the World Music Network Rough Guides series, the album features the music of the Andes Mountains of South America, focusing especially on the music of Bolivia, whose musicians contributed eleven tracks. Also featured is Peru (three tracks) and Chile (two tracks). The compilation was produced by Phil Stanton, co-founder of the World Music Network.

David Arkenstone – Caravan Of Light .... "soundtrack for the imagination"

 


David Arkenstone (born July 1, 1952) is an American composer and performer. His music is primarily instrumental, with occasional vocalizations. Most of Arkenstone's music falls into new age category; however, he also worked in other genres, including even a heavy metal soundtrack for Emperor: Battle for Dune video game. His music has been described as 'soundtracks for the imagination'. Throughout his career, Arkenstone has released over 50 albums and composed music for video games, including World of Warcraft, and for television, including NBC's Kentucky Derby. Arkenstone has been nominated for Grammy Awards five times.

Arkenstone has learned to play a variety of musical instruments, including bouzouki, mandolin, guitar, bass guitar, harp, cello, flute, electronic keyboards, piano, Turkish saz, pennywhistle, melodica, and pan pipes. He also plays drums and percussion and has performed some vocalizations on his albums.

Caravan Of Light, released in 2000, is in the electronic/new age genre with a middle eastern/African theme.
