Françoise Guimbert – Paniandy (Séga, Maloya)

Born June 7, 1945 in Saint-Benoît (Reunion) and died in the same city on March 25, 2022, a pioneer of Maloya in La Réunion island.

She worked as a maid before knowing success on stage. She began singing in the 70's with musicians such as Maxime Laope and Alain Peters, then with Groupe Folklorique De La Réunion she was able to showcase her voice and texts. Her art, Maloya, she sang in its most haunting dimension, the more 'blues'. The Creole language is magnified by her hoarse voice, melancholy and intense.
